2010 Montalcino Wine Tasting Results

July 10th, 2010

I just finished the Montalcino wine tasting and tasted 20 wines and picked 6 to share in a mixed case.  The wines were from the excellent 2004 vintage as well as handpicked wines from the 2005 vintage.

I have include wines that can be enjoyed immediately and some to age a few years.  The wines in this mixed case will surely please you and your friends.   I was very excited to try for the first time the Querce Bettina which has a very French nose and in a blind tasting you could fool a lot of people and the wine was delicious!!!

This is a fantastic mixed case of wines.   The mixed case includes these Brunello di Montalcino wines:

  • 1 – Sesti – 2005
  • 3 – Talenti 2005
  • 2 – Villa La Prata 2004
  • 2 – La Fuga 2004
  • 2 – La Fuga Reserva 2004
  • 2 – Querce Bettina 2004

Total:  12 bottles

Total Cost of wine and shipping and insurance:   560 Euros to USA which is about $705 dollars.   This would make a great gift for friends as well!

This is a great opportunity to experience the best wines from my annual trip to Montalcino.   With your case, I will also include my tasting notes and recommendation for each wine.

To place your order, you can send your shipping address and Credit Card information to Tullio Scrivani :  info@osticcio.com

When you send in your order via email, please copy me at brian@pcgdigitalmarketing.com  so I can make sure all orders get processed before I leave on Monday.

The wines are shipped and insured direct to your door.   This includes full replacement costs if any bottles are broken.

If no one is home during the day, I would use a work address.

You can also fax your Name, Shipping Address and CC information to Osticcio.com direct at:   011 -39 0577-846907.  Make sure the fax goes through.

If you send a fax, send me an email note so I can make sure it arrives.  Email is the fastest.

Please pass this offer to your wine friends…they will thank you for the consideration once they taste the wines.

A Great Case of Italian Wines

July 7th, 2010

Montalcino Wines

I have been going to Montalcino Italy for the past 15 years and last year I skipped my annual pilgramage to Tuscany but not again!

Those of you who have been on my website or on my wine newsletter know that each year I come to Montalcino and taste over 20 top wines to create a mixed case that can be shipped direct to your home.

This year I have scheduled the wine tasting on July 9th and on the 10th I will send out a special offering to those that have interest.  I’ll send you wines I have selected and the mixed case price delivered to your door.

This offering will allow you the opportunity to taste great wines from this famous region that you will not find at your local wine shops.

Get on The Offering List

If you want to receive the offer, please send me a direct email to:  brian@pcgdigitalmarketing.com .    There is no obligation to purchase any wines, so if you are interested, send me an email.   If you want to participate once you see the wines and shipped case price, then Osticcio wine shop in Montalcino will handle the rest.

When you place the order, you’ll email them Tulio Scrivani at Osticcio.com your  CC information and shipping address or you can call them direct while I am here.  All the years that I have created this special offer, no one has been dissappointed.  In fact each year the wines have received rave reviews.  Don’t miss out on this great opportunity to experience the BEST wines that I taste this year in Montalcino.

Sleeping In The Dark

July 6th, 2010

Darkness has a profound effect on my sleep cycle and room darkening shades at a Paris hotel made that very clear.

While I have been in Paris I have been sleeping much longer than usual.   Part of the reason is that my schedule over the past month has been very hectic and this vacation included much needed rest.  But what was surprising was that I was sleeping till 12:00 noon which is my normal 6:00 am back in New Jersey.

Today is my last day here in Paris before I head to Rome so instead of closing off the room darken shades, I left them open when I went to bed.  Miraculously, I got up around 6:00 am and was actually well rested.  The morning daybreak had brought some great light into the room but not piercing sun in my eyes.

It occurred to me that at home we don’t have room darkening shades so the darkness has a profound effect on my sleep cycle.  It may seem elementary to you but it was shocking to see just how much longer I can sleep in the darkness.

The good news is that three days of late sleeping has refreshed my body.  I went running in Luxembourg Gardens three days in a row and run about 2.6 miles a day.  Yesterday I also walked about 5 miles so my legs are really getting into shape.  Paris has been a great experience and I have found the will power to avoid eating a loaf of french bread every day.

The harder part is next: Tuscany.  The pasta….well you know.

Traveling in Paris

July 4th, 2010

I am traveling on holiday in Paris trying to write this blog post on a European keyboard and its very challenging. The “A” key for example is in the wrong place.

Here  are a few quick observations about Paris:

  1. Many young people are smoking significantly more than in the US.
  2. The ability to find vegetarian or vegan dishes is very hard.
  3. The US dollar is stronger as compared to the Euro but food is still at NYC prices.
  4. The  service levels at restaurants is strained by under staffing.
  5. Buses were very easy to utilize but overcrowding is a buzz kill.
  6. The food was wonderful, fresh and satisfying.

So, it has been 15 years since I was in Paris and I have a greater appreciation for this fine city.  I took a jog today in the Luxembourg Gardens and it was fantastic. The city was very clean and the people very accomodating.  Bravo Paris!
